Metro Stars Of The Week- 4/25

04/25/2017 11:50 AM -

Ask any NYC Youth Baseball player what tournaments bring out the best of the best, and Perfect Game (PG) will undoubtebly be near the top of their list. The "Worlds Largest Baseball Scouting Service," their events have become a mandatory proving ground for the Big Apple's top teams as they vie for regional and national recogniztion. This past weekend saw the company host their Northeast Elite Invitationals, and two players had big time performances to help their teams take home the tournament titles.

First up, Augusto Del Carmen from the U12 Bronx Bombers. After hitting in the bottom half of the order for the first few games of the tournament, he got bumped to the clean-up spot for the semi-final matchup versus US Elite, and rewarded his coach by going 3 for 3 with 2 Runs Scored and 2 RBIs. The good times kept rolling for him in the Championship Game versus the Oil City Bandits, as Del Carmen put together another 3 for 3 performance with 4 RBIs and 1 Run Scored to lead his team to a 11-3 win!

The other player who took dominance to a new level this weekend was Tory Cooks of Brooklyn Bluestorm U13. Getting the ball in their opening game versus the In The Zone Knights, Cooks provided a lightning bolt of momentum for the boys from BK, tossing four no-hit innings with 11 of his 12 outs coming via the strikeout in their 9-1 win. The team never looked back after that, not playing from behind a single time in five games en route to the U13 Championship.
